Announcement regarding Dr Tony Williams

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr Tony Williams, following a long illness, on Thursday 16 July 2026.

Tony's contribution to the Dickens Fellowship was immeasurable. As well as being a popular, enthusiastic and knowledgeable speaker at meetings and conferences, he was Honorary General Secretary from 1999-2006 and President from 2015-2017. 

We understand that he died peacefully and pain-free, having been barely conscious for several days.

We extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
