Celebrating the Life of Professor Michael Slater MBE - 8 May 2026

On 8 May 2026, the Dickens Fellowship hosted a Celebration of the Life of the late Professor Michael Slater MBE.

Approximately 100 people gathered at Lumen URC & Community Centre in London, with a further 40 or so joining the celebration online. 

The recording did not, unfortunately, capture Lucinda Dickens Hawksley's welcoming speech, nor that of Michael's nephew, David. It did, however, capture the rest of the afternoon's wonderful array of speeches and recollections of Michael, and the splendid performance of 'Bardell v Pickwick' by Malcolm Andrews, Mark Dickens, Gerald Dickens and Miriam Margolyes.
