Fordwich and the 1929 Dickens Fayre

In August 1929 the small Kentish town of Fordwich held a 'Dickens Fayre' in aid of the new Canterbury Hospital Fund. The whole town seems to have joined in the fun, many dressing as particular Dickensian characters. Now Alan G. Butler has produced a very attractive booklet containing a large number of images taken from photographs of the participants in all their Dickensian finery.

This wonderfully evocative booklet consists of 75 pages and can be obtained for £14.95 from the author: 2 West Hill Road, Herne Bay, Kent CT6 8HG. Cheques should be made payable to the Society of Sturry Villages.
